Interesting poll results from Nebraska [1]

At last we have a good, independent poll of Nebraska, courtesy of Split Ticket. Some of us here had been wondering if the polls showing Dan Osborn (I) within striking distance of Deb Fischer (R) were accurate or not, since they were all partisan polls. But this poll out today confirms that, indeed, he truly is.

We Polled Nebraska (And Its Second District). Here’s What We Found.

There is, however, the big caveat that there is a substantial amount of undecideds in this race. Split Ticket themselves believe the race will ultimately break for Fischer, but the fact that the decideds are basically tied is, I think, significant.

In other results of the poll, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by 5 points in the all-important 2nd congressional district race for president, and in that same district’s congressional race, Tony Vargas (D) is ahead of Don Bacon (R) by 6 points!

Lastly, there are two competing abortion initiatives, and the Yes vote in both are ahead (though the stricter of the two is ahead by more). It’ll be interesting to see what happens if both happen to win. Split Ticket notes that the governor has the discretion to decide if two measures are in conflict with each other, and if he decides that, the measure that got the most votes will ‘win.’

As I said in my very first comment here on DK two years ago, long-term I’m fairly bullish on Nebraska (and Kansas). It’s a very interesting state politically for many reasons and I think bears watching by Democrats.
