My Trump Lawn Sign (if I had one) [1]

*Note due to a spelling error at the print shop some signs may read “Take America Back”. If you find you have one of these signs, please discard the product and contact your local Trump campaign office for speedy replacement. The correct version should read “Take America Backwards”.

On a more serious note, when I think about what “take America back” means I think about the action in the phrase. It is a command (to people who know who they are) and describes the action of forcefully taking possession of something that once belonged to them-exclusively-in this case, I think, power, prosperity and happiness.

It’s a direct appeal, a call to action for the restoration of an earlier version of American society and all the horror and injustice that comes with it. Cruelty and enjoying someone else’s suffering are traits of MAGA.

I don’t know about you, but after 9+ years I’m trump-exhausted. I can’t wait for this to be over with and President-elect Harris to address the nation for the first time. Maybe after this cycle he will finally go away, and then he can contend with being a defendant for the rest of his life and we can contend with the next would-be fascist aiming to be his successor because that’s how this works. You have to keep at it and keep fighting over and over.
