Michigan Comes Into Focus: Trump is losing his foothold and Harris Support is Exploding [1]

Something is happening here. And what it is is exactly clear. Hope Springs from Field PAC [website] volunteers basically flooded the zone last Saturday, especially in the 7 Toss Up Electoral College Battleground states. Four states saw turnout of over 1,700 volunteers, including Michigan, which was second on Saturday in our highest volunteer turnout state.

But that’s not why Michigan is important. It’s a Blue Wall state, which makes Michigan one of the belles of the ball. It has an open Senate seat and three Swing congressional seats (one of which is an open seat). It has disaffected voters who make predictions risky. So it is good that volunteers here are up for the challenge.

Michigan has also been a state of fits and starts. And this isn’t just weather related. Our volunteer base in Michigan, not even 2 years old, has been remarkably sensitive to outside events. I believe it is the only state (not including Montana) that didn’t see a significant increase in volunteer participation the weekend before the convention. But we sure made up for it afterward.

Outside of our (rather small) volunteer base in Montana, our Michigan volunteers are the least diverse. Not exactly sure why that is, and no one has thought of it as problematic — it probably has everything to do with the swing districts where we are knocking. As they say, it is what it is, but even among this least diverse group, volunteers are excited by the Harris nomination.

Moreover, our volunteer base here is mostly female. This has been true all year. So, if that wasn’t obvious enough, white female. But 63.2% of our volunteers are women. Women proud to support the Vice President’s campaign.
