Cult of Personality [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-08-26 Everyone with any left leaning tendencies at all will approve of the label: “Cult of Personality” and know exactly where that label belongs. The media loves promoting this drama. What they won’t say, however, is that all politics is a cult of personality. The Republicans simply ride this horse unabashedly and abuse it to the max. The media want to use the term “democracy”, but in truth, one’s personality rules the White House, the floor of both chambers, and the voting public. In the private sector, one’s personality can often earn one a lot more money than one’s knowledge of any particular economic sector mastery. The reason for this is that we all want to hang with people who share our beliefs….the conversation is much better and more interesting. Consequently, we gyrate towards personalities with which we can relate. Politicians understand this and seek to leverage it to their benefit. The problems arise when the personality in question is both psychotic and sociopathic. An even larger problem is the fact that it attracts other people of the same persuasion. No one wants to buy into the fact that a large percentage of our population is both psychotic and sociopathic because they are regarded as derogatory terms. But what if all of us are psychotic and sociopathic to one degree or another. What if we have been taught these traits and presented with a massive campaign to treat this type of behavior as “normal”. Again, we all want to hang with personalities that mirror our best qualities, even if those perceived best qualities aren’t exactly the best. (The total US Medicaid expenditure on antidepressants increased from about $1 billion dollars in 2017 to $1.12 billion dollars in 2021, an increase of about 10%.) That’s a “B” people. The short answer to the solution to this overwhelming dilemma is that we must shift our attentions to increasing our awarenesses to the Natural World and explore how and why we need to relate to this world on an intimate level. I realize that this answer is foreign and probably unintelligible to a majority of people. Because I have over 30 years of active involvement in a spiritual path that teaches us how important the Natural World is to us through the ancient discipline of shamanic arts, I have a much larger and deeper understanding than most. If this post were something that might last longer than a couple of hours, I might even be tempted to expand on this subject. But I won’t.
