"Heal the Land" [1]

As I watched the DNC last night, amongst the excellent speeches (esp. Hillary’s) something stuck with me. Rev. Warnock’s speech mentioned “heal the land”. At first, my thoughts went to attitudes within the general public. Caring about neighbors, treating others with respect, etc., would be the healing he spoke of.

Then it occurred to me the real healing must happen within the Republican party. After he loses, Trump will be too old to run again and Republicans will have to choose a new path. I doubt there will be an appetite to get behind another neofascist similar to Trump. Perhaps someone like Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger will be able to restore sanity to the GOP.

When that happens, true healing of this land can begin. The hatred, bigotry, and misogyny of Trump will quickly fade once Republicans again embrace a respectable, patriotic leader. Trump will be banished from American politics only to be remembered as a black stain on American history.

Of course, Harris/Walz must be victorious or the land will continue to suffer. Please do your part, a Veteran thanks you.
