Why they didn't see it coming [1]

I’m not that politically savvy and only did passably well in college and have a so-so useful liberal arts degree, but I like to think I can think.

The GOP was gob smacked and tumbled into a ditch at Kamala Harris’ (almost) easy eventual nomination as Joe Biden’s replacement as the Democratic candidate for president. Why? Because they don’t understand it.

Dictators rarely have ready successors. In fact, they’re known for killing off any competitors. But since they themselves have normal human lifespans; they eventually die. And then what happens? A mad scramble for power between various sects.

If Trump had not survived the assassination attempt, (which is somehow barely talked about despite being a quite serious event) there would have been a mad scramble to replace him—with all manner of glorious infighting. And since that’s how they roll, that’s what they expected to happen when Biden stepped down.

And they did not expect Biden to step down. Stepping down for the greater good of others is such a ridiculous idea in their minds that they didn’t see it coming—at all.

But one of their strongest weaknesses is being unable to understand that everybody is not like them. They can only project their own thinking onto others, and they’re driven to rule at any cost because they believe that if everybody could be forced to obey them it would be a perfect world.

So, they were shocked when a peaceful, unanimously supported succession occurred, because that would not have happened if the shoe had landed on the other foot because Trump got a bullet slammed into his already addled brain. And they are slack jawed at Democrats falling in line and marching in lockstep.

Well, some of us are a little surprised too. But we’re loving it! Yeah! Lockstep! We love it!
