A Suggestion How to Deal With Trump’s Lies in the Upcoming Presidential Debate [1]

I’ve worked in and around the Hollywood film and television business since 1987. In Hollywood, everybody lies. In fact, there is a book written by producer Lynda Obst titled “Hello, He Lied & Other Tales from the Hollywood Trenches.” In order to survive in the business, a person needs to develop strategies how to deal with the daily onslaught of fabrications, distortions, and all-around fakery.

Donald Trump is a well-known liar. Lying must be his blood type because how else to explain 30,573 lies he told while President.

I suspect I am like most of us, obsessively watching MSNBC and various talking heads about the current Presidential campaign. One consistent concern about the upcoming debate is how our Democratic candidate for President will handle the torrent of misinformation spewing forth from the Liar-in-Chief. The worst thing would be to get bogged down responding to his falsehoods. That approach would not only allow Trump to set the agenda in the debate, but also consume time which our candidate could use to connect with voters.

Here’s a humble suggestion. At the beginning of the debate, Ms. Harris could make a statement:

“As we all know, my opponent lies. Seemingly all the time. It makes no sense for me to respond to any of his falsehoods. Since his lies are not grounded in fact, his comments have no bearing on what really matters to the American people which is what we are actually here to do in this forum.

So, here is what I am going to do. Every time my opponent lies and it’s my turn to speak, I am simply going to say: ‘He lied.’ Then I will address the subject at hand in a way that speaks directly to my fellow Americans and their concerns.

At the end of the debate, I invite everyone to go to my website (https://kamalaharris.com/) where a team of fact-checkers will be tracking every lie my opponent says, providing facts that prove he is deceiving the American public.

Who knows? Maybe this approach will teach him a lesson and he’ll start telling the truth tonight. But I’m not holding my breath.
