[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-08-14 Everyone knows that the Republican Party is fraught with infighting and disagreement about their leader and the path of the party. The old stalwarts like Liz and Mitt are out. Those remaining on the inside have been forced to do somesaults and change their stripes, like Mitch. Now people are just leaving the party because it is rudderless and subject only to the whims of one man. The battle for power in the US has always been a two party tug of war for the middle ground, the independents, just like other countries, say Canada as an example. The political swings in countries with multiparty systems seem not to be as large in most cases and the party in power often has to pay more attention to minority parties. In many cases they have to compromise or pander to minority parties, especially minority governments, in order move the country in an agreed upon direction, that their constituants and the populous desire. Right now the division in the Republican Party has the Old Guard part of the party wanting to leave behind the MAGA, Q, White Power deplorables and the MAGA, Q, White Power deplorables wanting to leave behind the Old Guard RINOs. Now seems the perfect time for that split. The Old Guard could re-establish itself as the Party of conservative reason. It could pander to the wants of the population by just moving a little bit to the left or right without really compromising its most prized positions. The MAGGETS could then unite around their anger and conspiracies which is all they apparently need to unify and the Left could continue fighting for progressive values. The party that can capture the spot as the middle of the road party would seem to more often meet the needs of the majority population and thus spend more time in the drivers seat. At least that is what I have observed in Canada and some other EU nations. The direction of countries that have multiparty systems seem to be less often subjected to huge pendulem swings that upset the economies and social fabric. Now I'm not really sure I want that to happen because I’m a green progressive and have no use for conservatisms social values. But if there was ever a time in the Us for a middle rail party to start, this is it. There is decreasing likelihood that the old party can be saved.
