[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-08-12 In a Sunday op-ed, the Washington post editorial board voiced their displeasure with Kamala Harris because she has yet to agree to an interview or press conference. "There's no "issues" page on her website", they write, just a biography. They claim she's being vague on the issues to "avoid giving fodder to the opposition or dividing her supporters." She's confident, they continue, "she'll win if the campaign is about the many flaws of former president Donald Trump." So the WP editorial board appears to be reading Kamala Harris's mind or else they've hacked into her campaign's servers and have first hand knowledge of her plans. Or, maybe it's something that they left out, like maybe Harris knows what papers like the Post do, such as distort and misrepresent her responses and character like they did with Hillary and are presently doing with Joe Biden. They go on explaining that Trump makes it easier for Harris because she can exploit the lies and nonsense he continually spews. But! they say, at least he has taken questions, including hostile ones, both from NABJ and at a long news conference on Thursday. Saying he faced hostile questions from the NABJ is true, but if he new beforehand that he wasn't going to be fed softball questions as he expected he would, he would never have shown up. But to say he faced "hostile questions" at his news conference is a perfect, real time example of this paper's blatant dishonesty. They then continue their article saying that Harris is, in fact, issuing policy positions through ads and spokespeople, but that's not enough for them. She needs to "tell us" whether the people are misreading those positions or not. In other words, the "people" aren't able to make the decisions on their own, instead leave it to "us" to do it for them. But here is what sounds like a thinly veiled threat from these bastards: If she hopes to prevail, Ms. Harris needs to present her ideas. The media and public have legitimate questions, and she should face them. This is a political necessity — Mr. Trump is already turning her avoidance of the media into an attack line. And elections aren’t just about winning. They’re about accumulating political capital for a particular agenda, which Ms. Harris can’t do unless she articulates one. If she hopes to prevail, you'd better sit down for a q&a with us is what it sounds like to me. I may be reading more into it than is really there, but I don't think I am. A note to the editorial board; Kamala Harris is and will continue to present her ideas, as you yourself stated in your article, and I'm sure they'll be honed and refined in the coming weeks so voters will be able to weigh their options for November. And she'll be doing press conferences and news show appearances. But maybe not with you. In the meantime, think about your past treatment of Democratic presidential candidates and your treatment of the current sitting President. PS: If you had called out Trump for what he is 10 years ago instead waiting until now, maybe your credibility would still be intact.
