North Carolina Poll: Harris Ties Trump; Stein Leads for Governor [1]

A new poll in North Carolina shows Vice President Harris tied at 46% with Donald Trump and shows Democrat Josh Stein leading Mark Robinson 46% to 36% in the race for governor of the Tar Heel State.

The survey has 2% of voters supporting Robert Kennedy, Jr., and the rest undecided or favoring other candidates.

This is a continuation of the trend showing Kamala Harris doing well against Trump in polls across the country and in swing states. Since this is a Democratic aligned pollster, the results should be accepted with some caution.

Another recent poll by CNBC shows that the economy is no longer dragging Harris’ popularity down as it was for Joe Biden.

In 2020, Biden lost North Carolina by 1.3% or about 75,000 votes-- the closest state that Biden failed to win. Trump is scheduled to campaign in Asheville, North Carolina on August 14.

Voters were asked about other down ballot positions but the results have high levels of undecided voters.

The YouGov Blue/Carolina Forward survey was taken August 5 through August 9 and involved 802 registered voters. The margin of error is 3.9%.
