Photo Diary: Academy of Natural Sciences Museum, Philadelphia [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-08-08 Over the Fourth of July Holiday I visited my sister up in Pennsylvania. I grew up near Allentown before I moved to Florida. The Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia has a museum at Drexel University. This was paleontologist Edward Drinker Cope’s home base back during the 19th century Bone Wars, and Drexel is the repository for Cope’s specimens and research. The museum has a dinosaur hall and other natural history displays. Some photos from a visit. They had a live tarantula, so I was able to talk “spider” with the docent. The Dinosaur Hall Elasmosaurus.
