Over the past week, a sea change has occurred in domestic American politics since President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race.

Democratic optimism aside, this is also shaping to be one ugly campaign — perhaps even worse than the 2016 Election. Racism, sexism, and misogyny are what’s in the Republican political toolbox. But, like old army generals, the GOP might be gearing up to fight the last war.

Will it work in 2024? Some signs indicate maybe not. Early signs indicate that the country has changed in the past decade.
