The Gateway Pundit's Bankruptcy Case Dismissed As A Bad Faith Filing [1]

In 2020, a wingnut publication called The Gateway Pundt, doing business as TGP Communications LLC, published a series of sensational and substantially false articles that alleged that the 2020 election had been stolen by Georgia election officials and persons associated with Dominion Voting Systems as the maker of the voting machines. These folks all sued The Gateway Pundit and its moonbat owner James Hoft, alleging defamation and related tort claims.

To try to dodge these claims, Hoft threw TGP into bankruptcy. But there was a big fly in the ointment: Even taking into account the claims against it, TGP was not insolvent. To th contrary, as the U.S. Bankruptcy Court was to ultimately find, "TGP's known, easily reachable assets are over 22 times greater than its liabilities." In other words, TGP's bankruptcy filing was little more than a cheap litigation stunt to try to impermissibly gain leverage over the defamation claimants through a reorganization plan.

After a careful review of the facts, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court dismissed TGP's case holding:

This case features charged emotions and polarizing facts. None of that impacts this Court's sole duty, which is determining whether TGP demonstrated good faith intent in filing and pursuing this Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. The answer is no. The Court will dismiss this bankruptcy case as a bad faith filing.
