Why Pete Buttigieg could/should be the VP choice [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-07-23 The next thing to draw attention away from Trump’s incoherent babblings will be the Democrat’s VP sweepstakes. The press will be all over it. Just to remind everyone, when Obama won in 2008, he and Hillary captivated the country with their “Survivor” or “The Great Race” debates. Everyone had their favorite, and no one paid attention to the Republicans at all. And Obama won “bigly” A VP has to be able to multi task. Have the Presidents back. Be able to go into the lion’s den and communicate effectively. Here are this years contenders for “ The Great VP Race” 1. Mark Kelly-AZ 2. Josh Shipiro-PA 3 Roy Cooper. 4. JB Pritzer-Il 5 Gavin Newsome-CA 6, Gretchen Whitmore-Mi. 7 Pete Buttigieg, Secretary of Transportation. 8, Andy Beschear,-KY MSM is selling the idea “ it has to be a governor, and from a swing state to lock a state down. We already know Newsom is out, because he is from California. Whitmere is out, because she said she wasn’t interested. That would also take out Pritzer, from Illinois, and Beshear from KY. Given the Republicans just learned Vance brings no new state into the equation, the Dems would be smart enough not to do that This leaves Kelly, the Senator Astronaut, and military Veteran from AZ, a swing state. His wife was a shooting victim so that would bring the gun control message. Possible, but he is still an unknown to many and we have a very short time frame. Shapiro has been in office 2 years and is from Pennsylvania. He is Jewish, as is Harris’s husband which might be an issue with the Gaza supporters that were dragging Biden down in the polls in Michigan and other wing states. Given Harris is a transformative presidential candidate… woman, black and South Asian ( 3 minorities) people who aren’t voting for her aren’t going to vote for her if a white male governor or Senator is her VP. The MSM sells it as “balance”. Minority groups might view it as “ the Dem elites want to have a white guy looking over Kamala’s shoulder”. Everyone knows Kelly from him being an astronaut, and from his wife Gabby Giffords shooting. He is a good, safe, choice. He would bring Arizona into the fold for sure. Again, possible. My argument is transformative candidates need a tsunami at the polls, not a squeaker. We already know the election is going to be contested. People are already saying this feels like 2008 now. This brings me to why Pete Buttigieg would be the best choice. 1. People keep saying American doesn’t want a gay guy near the White House. Those same people won’t be voting for Harris anyway.. 2. Slayer Pete, as he is referred to by many, slices and dices any opponent he encounters. He goes on FOX news constantly and when he leaves they are speechless, and flashes that little boy smile as he does. Suburban woman love him. That is who you want to defend the Biden record, not some governor. The VP choice will be on every news show and a lot selling the message. Nobody does it better. 3. He is already on TEAM BIDEN, chosen by Biden, so he works with Harris daily. Continuity. He sits in Cabinet meetings and already campaigns with her. 4. He is a Veteran and a Christian, who can nail Vance to his Old Testment cross and do it with a smile in any debate or discussion. 5. He is fluent in Arabic, ( and speaks 5 other languages.. Spanish being one) and lives in Michigan.. There is that one swing state dems can grab, like any governor or Senate VP choice. He can help heal some of the rift between the Gaza spporters and Biden’s controversial Israel policies. 6. He has the best network of supporters on social media. The others, if they even have a presence, are no where near the amount of people he has 7. Ditto for his base of supporters. He WON Iowa, and placed second in NH, He has been handing out $$ for a year now, in every state, taking lots of pictures, meeting with thousands of local politicians on both sides of the aisle, and enchanting them with his skills, He has the best data base of any of the above 8. He is young like Vance. and is cool in his nerdy way. 9 He is gay. It would be an actual plus for the youth crowd, which is what you need at the polls to generate a tsuanmi election. The Evangelicals will be going after him more than Harris, which is EXACTLY what you want. Draw fire from her. And who can respond with Scripture if they really want to have that battle? Slayer Pete once again. Again, the homo haters will be the black woman haters too. All the music stars would be endorsing the new ticket. Taylor Swift and her tweet army. 10. Pete graciously bowed out of the primaries very early and endorsed Joe Biden. Biden always said he thought Beau should be president, but that was not meant to be, And he has said more than once that Pete reminded him of his son Beau. The father training the surrogate son to be POTUS one day. 4 years of it. So, with all of the above, here is one more thing to consider, though none of us will ever know (or maybe we will down the road) When Joe Biden agreed to step down, and endorse Kamala Harris as the nominee, was there any conversation like “ I really would encourage you to consider Pete Buttigieg as the VP pick as it will be your choice.” ( again, he was already chosen by Biden and him being Sec of Transportation was the perfect way to get him out there, No other name above comes close to this list of reasons why he should be. . It’s all fluff and free MSM press to keep it all a big game, and get free attention to the Democrats. A CNN headline this morning says “ Shapiro, Cooper and Kelly AMONG OTHERS ( my caps- the only non governor other is Pete) ) have been asked to submit information for the VP process. We will see in a week or so,. Harris/Buttigieg 2024. Tsunami, not a squeaker, if we want to get rid of the Nazi Plague that is eating the US from within. The others are “safe” Pete is “BOLD” Is Harris herself a safe or bold candidate and choice? We all now know she is a BOLD candidate. One more question people should think about. Who would be the VP candidate Trump and Vance would fear the most out in the press cycles? Who would perform the best on FOX news taking incoming and able to leave them speechless?. Who could defend Biden’s record the best, ( IMO, the guy who is is already in the adminstration as he has all the inside knowledge) It’s all about who can get the message out the best, andt’s about the sizzle to deliver that message.. Pete has the most Sizzle by far for those things out of all of them.
