Reminder: We still don't know much of anything about Launchpad Strategies LLC [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-07-08 Trump critic turned Trump lackey Lindsey Graham is a well-known liar, well-versed in multiple techniques of deception. CBS News is currently amplifying his most recent use of a technique of deception whereby the liar makes an obviously true statement to generate headlines in service of a false narrative. Graham says that if Biden steps aside, it would make the 2024 presidential race “dramatically different.” Well, duh. Tossing aside a successful incumbent in a moment of panic would definitely make the race “dramatically different.” Not to mention in what way it would be different: in that it would almost automatically crown Trump king, as Sinai explains better than I can. Of course Graham is not going to mention this, but as a former lawyer he should be aware of why this is. What Graham’s trivially true statement does is that it keeps attention on the false narrative that President Biden, a very successful incumbent, needs to be replaced because he did poorly on one debate. But maybe techniques of deception can be repurposed to draw attention to forgotten stories and amplify larger truths. I will now try to do that with Donald Trump. Remember Launchpad Strategies LLC? The obvious statement here is that we still don’t know what Launchpad Strategies LLC does. Launchpad Strategies LLC might pertain to an ongoing crime. The mainstream “liberal” media hasn’t mentioned Launchpad Strategies LLC in the past two weeks. And, according to Google, Launchpad Strategies LLC hasn’t been mentioned here on Daily Kos since June 20. On that day, Turnip50 posted a theory about Launchpad Strategies LLC being a shell company intended to pay money to cover up sex crimes. The suspicious company had already received more than $3 million from the Trump campaign to provide unspecified services. Maybe Turnip50’s theory is wrong. But with a properly functioning press, the burden would be on the Trump campaign to prove that Launchpad Strategies is a real company doing legitimate work for his campaign. Instead, the press uncritically repeat Trump’s lies about the so-called “open borders” and the lies about President Biden’s supposed cognitive decline. The debate moderators should’ve asked Trump: “What does Launchpad Strategies LLC do?” Trump probably would've dodged the question, but at least it would have given an opportunity to refocus the national conversation on Trump’s larger criminality and treason. Yeah, yeah, I know Trump will never be convicted of treason. Even before the Supreme Court’s ludicrous ruling of immunity, it seemed unlikely that he would at least be convicted under the Espionage Act. I don't know which classified documents Trump has given to the Russians. Your guess is as good as our intelligence analysts’. It’s very galling given what a big deal was made of Hillary Clinton’s e-mails with confidential or classified markings — if anyone even remembers what was supposedly so bad about the e-mails. And that photocopier at Mar-a-Lago? The best defense Trump supporters can give is that it’s not a photocopier at all, and that Trump had declassified the documents with the power of his mind anyway. They’re not even bothering to argue that the documents were never classified in the first place. Given how feeble Trump’s mind is, maybe if he had declassified a few documents with the power of his mind it would have been an even fight with President Biden suffering from a cold. Or maybe the effort of declassification would’ve drained Trump completely. Another question the debate moderators should’ve asked of Trump: “What classified documents did you photocopy to give to America’s enemies?” [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/7/8/2252283/-Reminder-We-still-don-t-know-much-of-anything-about-Launchpad-Strategies-LLC?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=more_community&pm_medium=web Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
