Walking into disaster, and why we MUST change course. [1]

The choice is absolutely clear. Pick the kindly, successful, honest old man over the fascist. You are right. And if Biden is on the ballot, I will vote for him, and I will encourage everyone else to do so until my last breath.

Does that mean that it is the right thing to do to keep Biden on the ballot? Absolutely not. No. Is that our only option? No, it is not. I was asked yesterday if I want someone else, WHO else? My answer? Literally anyone at this point, I would be satisfied with. VP Harris? Bring her on. Gavin Newsom? Why not? But I would be very happy with Harris.

OPTICS MATTER. The optics are terrible and we CANNOT transcend them. Who would feel comfortable with Biden, as he is now, being woken up in 3-4 years to deal with an international crisis? LIKE IT OR NOT, he appears to be much aged and weakened since last election. This will not sell to the American people, to the majority, to the electoral college, which like it or not, we are stuck with. We are walking into certain defeat.

Some of us have been warning of this for a long time, and have been severely shut down on this website and off. I have been told “Don’t you just feel so pleased with yourself?”, as though this is about my ego. Fuck my ego. What we all share is a desperate fear and concern about the future of our country and the coming fascism. I, and others, are trying to prevent what we see as an inevitable defeat. It is a dereliction for the party to be putting Biden up again. He is NOT capable of winning.

Then, when he loses, we will be told that it is our fault, because we didn’t cheer hard enough.

You can’t cheer hard enough to get people to think their eyes and ears are lying to them. What they saw last night is a man who is too old and too feeble to lead. Trump, for all of his avalanche of lies, looked strong and vital in comparison. Who would the undecideds, the “double haters”, want to go up against our international enemies? The “strongman” or the weak one?

You need to stop arguing for “what SHOULD BE”, what people SHOULD think or believe or what is rational and right. Those of us who are here are already there. I implore you to stay with your feelings that got evoked last night when you were watching the debate. That it was horrible, that it was a disaster. People like me are not the enemy. We see what is coming and we are trying as hard as we can to produce a different outcome.

What is another debate going to do? You know it’s going to make it worse. Please don’t let your fear of rolling the dice again make you be complacent and stay the course. The course is heading to disaster and deep down, you know it.
