The Left side was a complete success!! Over the last 6 weeks it carried the right knee, I abused it to be truthful. But I got where I needed to be Tuesday May 28th. The right knee is doing fine 3 days post-surgery. I need to tell the story of what happened Wednesday night, so it doesn’t happen to you if you need this surgery. I never asked what the pills where I was being given. Around 11:00 pm I could tell meds were falling off. I rang the buzzer. The nurse came in and asked me what was wrong, I told her I was in pain. I didn’t see her again till 1:05 am & she had a single pill. It did nothing, I was livid and knew I couldn’t call for help Because I would go off on her. Around 2:30 am I called My doctor’s office and told the lady I was in pain & needed help. It was 4:00am before a doctor called me, I was that much livider! in talking to him I said SHIT & he didn’t like that. He told me I was causing my own problems; I ended the call. I knew then & now I can get myself in trouble with my attitude, But I shouldn’t have been in pain. so now I have to ride this out thru the shift change. When I told the next nurse what happened she went & looked at the charts to figure out what was wrong. She came back & said she had to wait for permission to give me an intravenous shot. It didn’t take long & I got a shot of Deltoid, 2 minutes & I could feel the meds working. It was 10:00am or so when the Doctor from Ortho came thru to explain what happened. I had been taking 2 oxycodone a day for just over 2 weeks, The Oxycodone was not effective when the nerve block wore off. But on my chart was an order for Deltoid if needed. Make sure you understand your meds. I can honestly say that was the worse night in my life. The pain was incredible. I made it Time to move on. So, they were still trying to figure out what to send me home with. It had to be pill form. So, I was given a Script for Deltoid 2m.I knew when I was to take the first pill. 5:00 pm, I did that, and it wore off faster than 4 hours. The nurse who figured out the mess told me if something goes wrong come back. I Talked to My MD Cousin, and she said you can’t just start taking more pils on your own, So I went to the ER around 8:30. I had my script. I should have waited for a reply from Ortho. The ER started off with looking for blood clots, then an X-ray. I stopped it there, I was on the phone with an Ortho doctor, I politely told the nurse no I was talking to my doctor. He told me to take two, he was doing math aloud, he said 2 were safe. Then he said take two Aleve ech time also. since that moment I have been doing good & pretty much pain free, yes you move wrong sometimes you get the shock of pain. But I am doing good. I rode the ROMtech 5 times yesterday and will get that in today also. I learned a lot! But what needs to be fixed is me. Been like this all my life, it was taught to me by the sperm donor's fist. Hard to overcome that. Today has been uneventfully boring. Manage your pain, stay in touch with your doctor. PS I am not a writer! I failed English in school!
