Does anyone know how to remove the foam washer attachment from a Black and Decker Pressure Washer? [1]

Does anyone know how to remove the foam washer attachment from a Black and Decker Model HWY23# Pressure washer? I’ve tried the manual, but it is filled with snark, “The lock button is to prevent spray gun being engaged accidentally, like children.”

Or sexual innuendo: “Push the hose in strongly. Use any type of lubricant on the hose. It will be easier to push in. If the top is hidden by the rubber, push the rubber part down.”

Seriously, I’ve spent all day trying to get the foam washer attachment off the gun with no luck.
