Who is the Antichrist? What is 666? [1]

Another day, another rant. This one is going to be a bit religious. If that offends you, you are free to not read it. I won't be offended. .

For those who follow the Bible, the number of the beast is NOT what many would have you believe. I have read books where authors claim that 666 represents the Catholic Church, or the British Monarchy, or Barack Obama (believe it or nuts, and yes, that author was as nutty as a squirrel's hidden cache), or any number of other people. They did this by misusing numerology. I could do that too if I wanted to. Let me see, if I arrange the representation of Roman numerals the right way, I could write a book claiming that the Antichrist is actually Bozo the Clown. However, numerology has nothing to do with claiming who the Antichrist is going to be (or is already). The most important numbers here are the dollars these authors are making by writing this crap. .

So what does 666 represent? It represents the love of wealth over the love of God, and the vile traits that come with that love of wealth. Revelations is actually referencing I Kings Chapter 10 when it plainly states "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.". The man referenced by Revelations was Solomon, who later in life threw away his belief in God for gold. After he became King of Israel, he demanded that tribute be paid directly to him, and the amount of gold he received every year was 666 talents (About 25 tons). He used the gold to decorate his palace. Everything there, including tables, chairs, and even his piss pot (which would be considered a toilet these days), were made of gold. Also, his palace was decorated with paintings and statues of lions. This gold, along with the lion decorations, were indicative of Solomon's falling away from God, his unjust practices towards his subjects, his inordinate wealth, and his love of wealth over the love of God.

. No, 666 has nothing to do with numerology, at least not the kind of numerology these authors have been feeding you. It is interesting that, in Hebrew, the number 7 represents God, the number 6 represents man, and the number 666, oddly enough, represents man at the height of his perfection, but well short of the glory of God. So who is the Son of Perdition? One sign would be someone who decorates his home excessively with gold, along with paintings and other items representing lions. This is one clue. Another clue is how the Antichrist will get others to abandon the words of Jesus and follow him instead, claiming that God sent him, resulting in his followers practicing hate instead of love, and having a form of Godliness while rejecting everything that Jesus taught. .
