Are your university friends and researchers aware of Trumpist plans for higher education should The OT win in 2024? Here is what the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 has in store for them:

“The actions of liberal politicians in Washington have created a desperate need and unique opportunity for conservatives to start undoing the damage the Left has wrought and build a better country for all Americans in 2025.

It is not enough for conservatives to win elections. If we are going to rescue the country from the grip of the radical Left, we need both a governing agenda and the right people in place, ready to carry this agenda out on day one of the next conservative administration.”

The particular focus in this post is on the future of universities in a Trump presidency. The last Trump proposed budget included a 7.8% reduction in the Dept. of Education’s budget. Science funding, which has a direct impact on university research budgets looked like this:

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) was to be cut by 7%

The National Science Foundation (NSF) by 6%

The Department of Energy’s Office of Science by 17%

NASA science by 11%

USDA’s Ag. Research Svce by 12%

EPA by 31%

US Geological Survey by 30%

Maybe you think that Congress won’t let a 2025 Trump administration make those cuts. Maybe you think that we’ll simply have to keep our heads down and reverse the damage in 2028. Nope! If The OT gets in, there won’t be another election. How do I know that? Lots of reasons, but the best reason is that’s what The OT says will happen if Biden gets elected.

If you have friends in Ivory Towers who think this is somebody else’s fight, please talk to them.
