Israel's Denials at the ICJ Don't Square With the Facts on the Ground [1]

Today, Israel denied South Africa’s charge at the ICJ that its attack on Rafah and the rest of Gaza amounts to ethnic cleansing and/or genocide and rejected the claim that the Court must order it to withdraw from the Strip forthwith. The British lawyer, Vaughan Lowe, representing South Africa told the court, “It has become increasingly clear that Israel’s actions in Rafah are part of the end game in which Gaza is utterly destroyed as an area capable of human habitation. This is the last step in the destruction of Gaza and its Palestinian people.” www.nytimes.com/...The legal presentation by the Israeli delegation was met with a chorus of “liars” from the gallery. Meanwhile, alJazeera reports that on Saturday, 26 members of the Assalia family football team were killed in IDF strikes while at home in two residential apartments located on the street named after the storied Gazan family in Jabalia. Read the tragic case here: www.aljazeera.com/...The few survivors are trying to flee, but it is a fraught enterprise given IDF bombardment and Hamas sniper fire. The survivors have relatives in the UK who are desperately trying to pressure the British government to facilitate family reunification.

To most observers, what is occurring with Israel’s renewed attacks on the enclave crossed POTUS’ red-line days ago, notwithstanding the administration’s unbelievable denials. As entire family lines continue to perish in Gaza and 600K internally displaced persons suffer in al-Muwasi without adequate life sustaining provisions, the government of Netanyahu has decided to surge even more troops into the battle space. For him, the pace of slaughter is just not fast enough. More soldiers with US weapons and ammunition ought to improve “efficiency”.
