IAN: May 12, 2024 - Happy Mothers Day, I hope [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-05-11 I finished reading Oath and Honor. Some of her opinions of older generation Republicans made me want to gag, but the story of what happened in the J6 Committee was both fascinating and fairly straightforward. I do recommend hitting your library for this. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! ************************* This is (fairly obviously) from early April. How the Maya predicted solar eclipses. Survival of the nicest. The Statue of Liberty being struck by lightning. Chicago in the 1940s. The Javan tiger may not be extinct after all. Allrecipes review of fast-food fried chicken. ************************* This has been a slightly more exciting week. I managed to do something to my right knee — don’t ask me what, I was asleep at the time — that had me hurting for about four days. Then, when I was working my way into the bathtub to take a shower, something in my knee popped and it stopped hurting. The PT appointment on Wednesday was actually kind of fun, but also very wearing. I went to see the Reed sisters that afternoon and the birthday present they had waiting for me was absolutely gorgeous. A Celtic knot dragon brooch. Then a little grocery shopping and the grandkids were home from school when I got home and helped me get the groceries into my apartment. Thursday, they came over after school and did the trash and recycling. It’s been hot here, but that is supposed to end tonight for at least a week. ************************* Love you guys!
