His home was invaded. By the police. Reports are that the police went to the wrong apartment, AGAIN. Airman Fortson tried to exercise his 2nd amendment right to defend himself with a gun he legally owned. www.11alive.com/... Senior Airman Roger Fortson, a 23-year-old U.S. service member, was fatally shot on May 3 after the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office claimed a deputy responding to a call about a disturbance in progress "reacted in self-defense after he encountered a 23-year-old man armed with a gun." Roger Fortson was from Atlanta and graduated from McNair High School in DeKalb County. He enlisted in the Air Force and served at Hurlburt Field near Fort Walton Beach. He lived off base in a nearby apartment. His family has retained the services of Ben Crump. This happened in Okaloosa County. www.airforcetimes.com/… The Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office faced scrutiny last year after a deputy mistook a falling acorn striking his patrol vehicle for a gun shot and fired at his SUV while a suspect sat inside restrained. According to an internal investigation, Deputy Jesse Hernandez believed the shot came from inside his vehicle. The suspect, who is Black, was uninjured in the shooting. The sheriff’s office determined Hernandez’ use of force was not reasonable and he resigned in November. There was a witness. Roger Fortson was alone Facetiming with a woman who heard what happened and reportedly also saw some of what happened. Per the witness, Fortson said “I can’t breathe” after being shot six times.
