Optimism in This Time [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-05-01 It sure is hard to stay optimistic in these days with one political party in this country bent on destroying democracy. There are days, especially weekends, that I stay off social media completely because I found I was getting more and more demoralized and depressed. Here’s what we all need to do…. tune OUT the media, the polls and the rage-spewing MAGA “leaders”. Focus on working to make them lose and lose BIG in November. The courts won’t save us, the media, with their horse-race BS, won’t save us. The only thing that will save us is US. And we outnumber them by a huge margin. Our job is to WORK to get all these people out to vote. That’s it. Campaign, phone bank, text bank, write postcards… donate either time or money or both. That’s what we need to save our democracy. We’re actually off to a very good start, which you would be hard pressed to know if you rely on the mainstream media. The Biden campaign has over 500 field offices open already, including a large amount in swing states. The Trump campaign has opened ZERO this year. The RNC money (which is now Trump’s money) is being used for his legal fees, for ONLY his campaign (if at all) and to keep his lifestyle. They are not courting any new voters. Democrats are outpacing GOP voter registration in at least one key swing state. To boost my mood, I often read Simon Rosenberg’s Substack called The Hopium Chronicles. He actually covers all the good that has taken place in the Biden administration. He covers polls and gives really great analysis on those. Trump Gets Fined Trump was fined $9,000 this morning for the first nine contempt incidences. Sadly, $9,000 is not a lot of money, however, the judge was contrained by New York law. He probably would have fined Trump $1 million if he wasn’t constrained by law.
