I Visited Anne Frank House Today [1]

The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is a stark warning that fascist dictatorships can overthrow democracies and systematically destroy whole populations, step by step.

As I walked and climbed through the hidden annex where Anne Frank’s family and friends were in hiding for two years as Hitler’s Nazis systematically arrested and murdered thousands of Jews in Holland, I was struck by how these people were literally labeled with yellow stars and restricted from normal life and were forced into hiding to try to stay alive.



Not allowed to go to the movies or restaurants. Restricted to certain days and hours for shopping. Targeted in their residences on a map. And then arrested and shipped away and murdered.

It was a steady march, carefully and methodically orchestrated by the Nazis, to annihilate the people they reduced in their minds to vermin.

Looking at this horrendous era in human history through a child’s eyes is a stark warning. America cannot allow the Trump followers to recreate the nightmare of Hitler’s Nazis. Trump must not be deemed immune from our Rule of Law or Anne Frank’s tragic demise and stark warnings will surely be repeated once again.
