I went out to a favorite birding haunt to see what I would find now that the Spring Migration is starting to heat up. The weather definitely wasn’t as it was spitting a wee bit of snow and overcast but with little wind.

There was quite a bit of activity with a lot of birds calling and signing. It made for a wonderful time.

The location has a 300 yard long boardwalk out into a shallow lake. I was out about 200 yards.

I got a few of this pose from several passes

The Tree Swallows and Violet-green Swallows will pass through on their way to preferred breeding habitat in the area with VGSW heading up a little farther north. The Barn and Cliff Swallows will stay and breed somewhere nearby.

Cliff Swallow

I missed capturing Northern Rough-winged and Bank Swallows although I thought I might have seen a Northern in this Swallow flock. Bank Swallows prefer a different habitat than what this location has.
