Arizona next state to rule on abortion. It is now illegal after 15 weeks [1]

The Arizona Supreme Court just ruled abortion illegal after 15 weeks.

To quote from the opinion

When this litigation was initiated in 1971, the plaintiffs asserted a number of state and federal constitutional challenges to§ 13-3603

So this case has been going on for over 52 years.

Unsurprisingly, it used Dobbs as the rationale to reinstate an 1864 law that was still sitting on the books, along with the dozens of other changes.

Between 1973 and 2022, and conforming to the federal abortion right established in Roe, the Arizona Legislature codified dozens of abortion statutes in Title 36

So this decision was not surprising, and can only be fixed by the AZ legislature or Federal legislation.
