Florida Man Sentenced to 14 Months Prison for Making One Threatening Phone Call to Justice Roberts [1]

For leaving one profanity-laced threat on voicemail to kill Chief Justice John Roberts, on 2 April 2024 a former computer programmer for Google was sentenced to 14 months federal imprisonment. Last year, 43-year-old Floridian Neal Brij Sidhwaney left the following voicemail for Chief Justice Roberts:

Yeah hi, my name is Neal Sidhwaney, uh, this message is for [Justice Roberts] … I will f—— kill you … Go f—— tell the Deputy U.S. Marshals you f—— p—-. I will f—— talk to them and then I’ll f—— come kill you anyways, you f—— c—.

The Supreme Court Police and US Capitol Police investigated the 31 July 2023 phone call and Sidhwaney was indicted on one charge of violating 18 USC § 875 (Interstate Transmission of Threats). Court documents linked here: documents. Sidhwaney was diagnosed with delusional disorder and related paranoia, but still found competent to stand trial. In January 2024, he pled guilty before US District Judge Marcia Morales Howard, a George W. Bush appointee.

For ranting and rambling a 50-word threat, Neal Brij Sidhwaney, a man with mental illness will be incarcerated for 14 months, costing US taxpayers approximately $43,000. Meanwhile on a social media platform, the miscreant ex-President posted a revolting, threatening image of President Joe Biden with a bullet wound in his forehead, seemingly in violation of 18 USC § 871 (Threats against President and successors to the Presidency). The White House responded by accusing the GOP frontrunner of “stoking political violence.”

One delusional man makes a single quixotic telephonic threat against a Republican Justice over 700 miles away and faces prison, while a demented man promotes violence against the Democratic President and remains unscathed. Perhaps the white misogynist racist presidential candidate calculates he can fare better head-to-head against VPOTUS Kamala Harris in November should something happen to President Biden, but this is purely conjecture.
