The video below comes from SBS, an Australian public broadcast network. Worth reading about; they have a history that would be a bit improbable here in the States. Wikipedia notes they are about 80% government funded. en.wikipedia.org/...

I would add, to anyone still insisting “hostages first” or “only hostages matter” that I agree that the hostages matter.

It does not take much in the way of intellect to understand that if Gaza is starving, any hostages in Gaza are also starving. That should matter to anyone who thinks the hostages matter.

And such hostages may in fact starve first, because their captors would quite possibly just abandon them still in captivity once the situation is sufficiently dire. That too should matter.

I am still running about doing damage containment on my personal nightmare, so I won’t be able to check in here until later. But when I am here, be advised that I will be avoiding engagement with any form of “Yes, but”.

There is no “but”. Hear what this man is saying.

There is also no I/P tag on this story, and that is intentional. This happened in one place, but, as Chef Andrés says, it is about our entire species, everywhere there is conflict. There is a World Central Kitchen tag, and a tag for Chef Andrés. Unless site rules in a disused file cabinet in a locked abandoned office behind a sign that says “Beware of the Leopard” [thank you, Douglas Adams] say there must be such a tag, I do not believe it is appropriate to limit the scope of this diary, therefore I didn’t.
