Mister Green, Union Representative [1]

Recently I was elected to be the representative for my district’s substitute Teacher’s union. It’s been years since we had a rep for our unit. I’m the first in a long time.

I’ve been getting to know my duties and how things are getting done or not done.

I’ve already had my first success. The district cut one of our work days and framed it as “Congratulations you get a day off”. After some stonewall from HR, the union will be filing a grievance to get us that day back, probably by adding a day to our contract.

I spoke Tuesday evening at the school board meeting. This was mostly a brief speech about the value of super subs and a bit about a couple of our issues. The direct link to my speech, about 5 minutes long, is below. Please take a few minutes to watch it and let me know what you think:
