Oath and Honor by Liz Cheney: A reader reaction [1]

I just finished listening to “Oath and Honor” by Liz Cheney. This is not a book review; this is more of a reader (listener) reaction. Readers probably know most (or all) of these but this was a good recap for me.

Cheney’s motivation for going after TFG has been second-guessed and speculated about. She did this knowing the outcome will not be good for her political life, and I fully believe that she did this for Demcracy

The audio version had audio clips of testimony to the Jan 6 committee and other interviews. That had more impact on me than reading the transcripts in the paper version of the book, Your mileage may vary.

Surprise 1: Darth Vader (Dick Cheney) actively helped her, including reaching out to Donald Rumsfeld to help stop TFG’s illegal takeover.

Surprise 2: Dick Cheney was motivated to join public service after listening to a speech by JFK at the University of Wyoming. So can JFK be blamed for creating Vader?

Liz Cheney’s husband Phil, who has worked in the Federal Government for a long time, took an active role, including drafting memos, advising her, etc.

Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows came across as even sleazier and dishonest than I thought possible

Cassidy Hutchinson provided crucial testimony, and once the veil was lifted by her testimony, others such as Pat Cipollone f elt comelled to testify. Someone give Ms. Hutchinson a medal.

Pat Cipollone f The testimony clearly showed TFG knew what was going on, and he knew that some of the crowd had weapons.

FOX news-actors and even Donald Trump Junior were desperately texting Meadows to make TFG put out a statement to stop this.

It is worth a listen (or a read)? Yes, if want a deeper dive into what you already know.
