EU Votes $5.5 Billion for Arms to Ukraine in 2024 [1]

Is Europe finally realizing that shit is getting real? Excellent news that they’ve finally gotten over their “minor disagreements” and voted to give Ukraine the money to source weapons within and outside the EU. I bolded “outside the EU” because that was one of the major sticking points(France!). There are a lot of countries outside the EU with various artillery munitions which Ukraine so sorely needs while Europe ramps up its own production. This is the right thing to do not only for Ukraine but for Europe itself.

Worth noting that this is a separate tranche of funds in addition to the $54 billion the EU approved last month to support Ukraine’s economic and financial stability. That was the one on which Orban folded. Looks like he has kept quiet on this one, too.

JRB(our awesome President) is playing this just right … let Europe lead while nudging them with a package here and there … as we work on the Republican congressional recalcitrance.

BTW: At last check the Discharge Petition pending in the House of Representatives has 177 signatures.
