Checking in from casa del plumber. With threats of possible snow this weekend we stocked up on food. While the snow has yet to materialize, we are enjoying some hearty, and warm meals. Last night was lobster bisque. Tonight is grandma’s chicken soup. Tomorrow is pot roast in the slow cooker with mashed potatoes. Rain has been non-stop for days. And snow is still in the forecast for tonight. I’m almost believing them. It was 10 degrees colder this afternoon compared to the morning. Anybody familiar with the Santa Cruz Mountains know they are always moving. Mud/rock slides are common. Last night TLO found out the hard way just how much they are moving. rocks I pulled out of the grill this morning Thankfully it appears only the AC coils were punctured. remembrance has been really getting into managing the yards. Keeping the bird feeder full. Trimming plants. Etc. The other day I suggested she pull the weeds in the rocky area of the yard. Easier to get them while they are little. I had already been pulling them occasionally. She exclaimed that I was pulling up the wild carrots. When I informed her they were poppies, she wasn’t convinced. I helped her download the google app for her phone. Then the debate became should we just leave the poppies. I have little doubt there will be an abundance of poppies blooming this spring, we just can’t let them take over the entire yard. She loves her new app. Actually was out the first night identifying plants until it was too dark for the app. She can often be found out there taking pictures of plants and birds ...even in the heavy rain. My biggest struggle recently has been getting to work at a reasonable hour. Whether it is watching the fog drifting thru the valley below… Or waiting for the sun to come up over Loma Prieta… Just can’t seem to get in my truck and head down to work. Even if knowing I’ll likely be rewarded with a nice sunset… Latest poop on the poop… pretty sure it all is fox poop. We have seen him a few times now. And a new pile appears every couple days. They are so cute ...with their big ears and fluffy tail.
