[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-02-17 Hey, folks. Ordinarily I’m only found in the Peeps or New Day Café comments, but I just got a call from a friend, and I know Daily Kos is simply an amazing place to network sometimes. Here’s the situation; there’s a dog in Albuquerque, NM, who is going to be homeless very soon, for no better reason than his owner is dying. She’s in hospice care now, but not at home. A neighbor is coming by twice a day to feed him and let him out, but she can’t continue indefinitely, nor can she adopt him herself, as her own dogs won’t tolerate it. My friend’s dog wouldn’t tolerate him. One of my dogs wouldn’t tolerate him, or this would be wrapped up already. And pitties aren’t even my thing! There is no room for him with any of the rescue groups and shelters. The dog is named Ghost (my friend and I ruminated briefly on the fact that there is probably a reason for his name, and now we’ll never know); he is a 9.5 year old pit mix, tan and white. He’s had a vet health check, is current on shots and had his nails trimmed. He’s VERY friendly, and gets along well with children, adults, and other dogs (I wasn’t told about cats, but it seems he’s reasonable). He’s actually had service dog training and is ESA certified. His vest comes with him. When his owner dies, there is no telling what will become of him — her survivors will sell her house, and that’s it for him. Like I said, pitties aren’t my breed group, but I’d bring this boy home today if my girl ‘Risa wasn’t likely to be mean about it. If you know anyone who is interested in this well-schooled, friendly, healthy boy, give my friend Kay a shout at 505-220-2979, and God bless your big heart.
