Political Outweighs National Security [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-02-15 Republicans demanded and actually got a Senate bipartisan bill that would have strengthened the Southern Border. Democrats actually agreed to many republicans talking points on the border. Then Trump belched something about not wanting the situation at the border solved by this bill. Even though Trump and republicans have been saying immigration at the Southern Border was a National Security Threat to our country. Trump puked something about wanting to keep the border as a campaign issue. This past Tuesday, a Democrat (Tom Souzzi) beat a republican (Mazi Pilip) in a special election for the seat of expelled congressman Santos. And Souzzi did so by pounding the republicans with the sentiments generated after republicans pulled the Senate bill. In short, how can it be a National Security Threat, an imminent one no less, that does not need immediate Senate action? Why are we expected to wait a full year until this threat (already addressed by the bipartisan bill) can be taken up by republicans (who already wanted the current bipartisan bill)? This is how Dems can pound repubs into the ground on their last remaining issue for 2024. And we should all thank that loser Trump again for giving us another gem to spend on the continued freedoms of America. :-) [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/2/15/2223608/-Political-Outweighs-National-Security?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=more_community&pm_medium=web Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
