[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-01-31 Hello and happy (possibly) consequences day. I am pretty certain that everyone here at DK is well informed about the NY Attorney General’s civil case against the orange crapper. For anyone new to it — here is a statement from New York’s Attorney General about the case as well as some links to get you up to speed: NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James released the following statement on the first day of trial in her case against Donald Trump for engaging in years of financial fraud to unjustly enrich himself and cheat the system: “For years, Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth to enrich himself and cheat the system. We won the foundation of our case last week and proved that his purported net worth has long been rooted in incredible fraud. In this country, there are consequences for this type of persistent fraud, and we look forward to demonstrating the full extent of his fraud and illegality during trial. “No matter how rich or powerful you are, there are not two sets of laws for people in this country. The rule of law must apply equally to everyone, and it is my responsibility to make sure that it does.” ag.ny.gov/… Most of us know the judge in the trial has already ruled that the dotard defrauded banks and insurers. There are just a few other things for him to decide on. NEW YORK (AP) — A judge ruled Tuesday that Donald Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House, and he ordered some of the former president’s companies removed from his control and dissolved. Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling in a civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, found that Trump and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing loans. Engoron ordered that some of Trump’s business licenses be rescinded as punishment, making it difficult or impossible for them to do business in New York, and said he would continue to have an independent monitor oversee Trump Organization operations. apnews.com/… But what I would like to call attention to is that TODAY is the day that Judge Engoron said he aims to issue his ruling in this case on HOW MUCH MONEY (the thing he loves above all else, including his offspring) the dotard owes for all this criming, frauding and David Copperfielding the numbers. So, today is (possibly) the day that the dotard will LOSE HIS SHIT when he (fucked around...and) will find out the dollar amount for his decades and decades of bullshit. Bad ass Tish James™ has asked for $370 million (plus interest hee hee). It is my fervent hope that the judge makes it more like $500 million (a girl can wish). And how could we forget the recent news about the monitor, Barbara Jones, uncovering what appears to be a $48 million fake loan the dotard made in order to avoid paying taxes JUST IN TIME for this “little tidbit” to make it to Judge Engoron’s awareness before he rules. Former President Donald Trump didn't disclose payments of more than $40 million to himself, undervalued the annual management costs of the Trump building by $1.6 million, and waited eight months to disclose the dissolution of some of his companies, the monitor overseeing his companies said. Barbara Jones, a retired federal judge, submitted a report on the companies to Judge Arthur Engoron before he decides this week how much in penalties to impose on Trump for fraudulent asset evaluation that predated Jones' role as monitor. Jones wrote that the Trump Organization has implemented changes but needs to do more. www.newsweek.com/... So, this diary is just a reminder or placeholder of sorts to remind us all that today could quite possibly be the first day of the end of the dotard’s ownership of his house of cards...oh I mean “real estate empire.” I’ve got some champagne in the fridge, ready to pop! Here’s hoping the ruling is announced today, as planned. With glee and excitement about the continued fall of this horrible horrible “person,” (I use that term loosely) I wish you a great day!
