[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-01-28 This holiday is completely corporate, of course: National Pork Rind Day was started in 2011 by Rudolph Food. It is the largest manufacturer of pork rinds and the brand that declared the day a national celebration. Since its foundation, Rudolph Foods has made charitable donations from its online sales for the day. The governor of Ohio, John Kasich, made it an official national day in 2012. nationaltoday.com/... Agreed that they can be tasty. But I mean, a national day? Really? Anyway, it’s possible to bypass the corporate-fried rinds by making them yourself, and YouTube can show the way. I am not going there. But if you do make chicharrónes or pork rinds at home, please tell us about it in the comments! Here’s the corporation’s promo method [3:54]: * 🦉 🦉 🦉 Hi! I’m Itzl! As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! But who or what exactly is the Green Man? George Pollen explores. Green Man is a sculpture or other representation of a face surrounded by or made from leaves. Branches or vines may sprout from the mouth, nostrils, or other parts of the face and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament, Green Men are frequently found in carvings on both secular and ecclesiastical buildings…. [T]he Green Man is often related to natural vegetative deities. It is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring.
