America First [1]

America First. AMERICA FIRST. That's the MAGA battle cry. As if, somehow, a large portion of America is yelling Hungary First (oh wait, that's Trump's favorite country) or Russia First (ooops, Trump's favorite donor) or maybe Hitler First (OMG, Trump's favorite historical person). Well, you get the idea, nothing (except Victor Orban, Putin, and Hitler) comes before America.

So I got to thinking. What is this America First cry all about? Is it about half our population (168 million women) being denied abortion? Is it about women in Texas and Tennessee unable to even travel out of state for an abortion without breaking state law? How could removing a 50 year right from half our population equate to America First?

Maybe I'm thinking about this wrong. Maybe it's about making sure that LBGTQ people don't infect our country. And the one sure way to remove that infection is to remove rights from that group. Surely that makes America First by protecting us. Well maybe not. Per a Gallup poll 2021-2022, 7.2% of American adults identify as LBGTQ.

Seems like a small number right? Except there were 260,860,730 adults in America at the time of that poll. Meaning 18,781,972 people identify as LBGTQ. How does denying nearly 19 million people their Rights as citizens equate to America first? Worse yet, LBGTQ numbers in Gen Z and Millenials rise to 19.7% and 11.2% respectively. Meaning a greater number of younger American adults among us are exluded from America First. This can't be right for America First either.

Well, maybe it's our elections. It is election season after all. All kinds of loons come out of the shadows to elect their favorite candidate or God. Maybe America First applies to that. Nope.

Trump Bans Haley Donors From MAGA

Trump tried to get the RNC to name him king and stop all further primary voting. That's America First? Further he went on to say that anyone "Making a donation to Birdbrain" (Haley) would be "permanently barred from the MAGA camp". That sound American to you?

All in all, over half of America (at least 178 million people) are not included in America First. That's kinda like yelling We're number one when you are clearly and numerically defined as number two....in every sense of that definition. :-)
