PWB Peeps Open Thread: Wolf Moon [1]

Tonight’s full moon is known as the Wolf Moon to some. Also the Center Moon, Frost Exploding Moon (that sounds likely in some parts of the country!), Spirit Moon, Severe Moon, or Canada Goose Moon.

Wolves are more likely to be heard howling in midwinter a) because other wildlife sounds are muted b) because they are communicating about their hunting.

Wolves don’t give a rip what the phase of the moon is. They throw back their heads to howl because it makes their voice carry farther.
