[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-01-21 The Northeast Arizona Native Democrats are ready to elect Democrats up and down the ticket in 2024. To prepare for these critical elections, our team is growing and our roles and focus are shifting. We have hit the ground running and nothing is going to slow us down. This year our goals are to: Increase voter turnout by 3 points on sovereign lands in NE Arizona from 2020 Increase voter turnout on the White Mountain Apache Nation by 10 points from 2022 Increase the number voters who vote the entire ballot, rather than just specific races To do this we will: Train and mobilize 150 Family Votes Matriarchs on sovereign lands Host door-to-door canvassing and Google +code assistance in all 12 villages on Hopi Train and mobilize 10 more paid Youth Vote Ambassador interns Visit more communities with our listening tours. We have tours planned to remote communities on Hopi, White Mountain Apache, and Navajo Nation Train 50 more direct voter contact volunteers on sovereign lands Expand our Neighborhood Organizing program to the border towns on the 1-40 corridor Host candidate events with Countywide Candidates Assist voters on White Mountain Apache with ID acquisition Your generosity will help us reach our goals We are excited for the return of Marian Quintero to the field team. Marian is deeply embedded in her community, the White Mountain Apache, where she has experience working for White Mountain Apache Tribal (WMAT) Council, the WMAT Fair and Rodeo (this is BIG deal), and the WMAT Tourism Program. Perhaps most importantly, Marian has a small business serving some of WMAT’s best breakfast burritos. Marian has been organizing with us on Apachelands every election year since we started this program, she understands fully what is at stake in Arizona and her home community this year. In 2024, we look to grow the electorate on WMAT by 10 percentage points over 2022 numbers. This is a community that is critical to reaching our goals of expanding the electorate across the region in 2024. There is no one we trust more than Marian to do this work. Marian Quintero and her mom on the ground in Whiteriver, White Mountain Apache To reach our turnout goals, Marian will help voters get the IDs they need to vote in person. In 2022, nearly 80 members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe were denied their right to vote because of Arizona’s strict voter ID laws. This is unacceptable and we are working to remedy this problem. Because of Marian's depth of knowledge in the community and the state statutes, she can guide voters through the difficult process to gain access to the polls. Marian will also register young and first time voters, train family votes matriarchs, and educate historical non-voters about the power of their vote. Marian spearheaded our first campaign in 2019 by working on completing the census and providing Google + codes to community members. Google + codes provide physical addresses to ensure that voters are in the correct precinct and ave the correct races on the ballot. Marian is an expert in overcoming the obstacles caused by lack of street addressing, enabling tribal members to get to the polls. She is a leader who has trained many field organizers, and we know that in 2024 we'll see the same effort from her again. Help us overcome policy and geographic obstacles with a contribution to the program. Janice Ben Presenting to Matriarchs in Window Rock, Navajo Nation Janice Ben has moved to a new role on the team. Janice will be leading our Family Votes Program. She will ensure that women all across Navajo, Hopi, and White Mountain Apache lands have the tools and information needed to get family members to the polls. Janice will help matriarchs combat misinformation and build trust for Democratic candidates. We know that this sort of work is going to be more important than ever in 2024. Disinformation is the cornerstone of Republican “strategy” to win, but we know family and kin are trusted sources of information. Having recruited nearly 300 Family Votes Matriarchs leads in 2023, Janice will be busy hosting events all across Navajo, Hopi, White Mountain Apache lands. She is already planning events in Hard Rock, Kayenta, and Teec Nos Pos. Janice’s experience in the field and connection to the community make her the most skilled person on our team to handle the job. Help us host more voter engagement events on Navajo and Hopi lands Our other organizers are focused on what they do best, engaging voters everyday to talk about our values and our commitment to passing policies that improve our communities and our nation. We are digging deeper than ever. We are working in remote areas and communities like East Fork, Teec Nos Pos, Moenkopi, and Hard Rock, which is literally where the road ends. We've never hosted events in these communities before, but to reach our goal of increasing turnout by 3 points over 2020 we must! Our Field team launching a canvass in Kayenta, Navajo Nation We look forward to this year. We look forward to bringing the fight to Republicans in Arizona, and we know that with continued support of extraordinary folks like you , this team will get the work done. We're ready and excited to be taking it on as the only Democratic field team in the region. We know that our work is critical to getting out the vote in 2024 and ensuring that Democrats win up and down the ticket in Northeastern Arizona. We will continue fighting. We'll continue doing this work not just for the folks on the ground here, but for the entire nation. We know democracy is on the line. We know that our team, by virtue of our strength, resilience, and geography, is the team that can deliver another four years for Democrats in the White House. We know our team who can deliver a win for Reuben Gallego for the Senate. We know that our team can defend seats in our three counties to vastly improve the quality of life for the people here in Northeastern Arizona. We are grateful for your support. We look forward to doing the work in 2024.
