Republicans demanded this [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-01-04 Republicans have been using state, city, and county governments to do their bidding under the guise of states rights for many a year now. Currently some small towns and at least one county in Texas have made it illegal to travel on their roads in order to get an abortion. This despite the Constitution's Privilege and Immunities Clause that guarantees freedom of travel within and between states. They got the national SC (illegally constructed and heavily conservative) to remove the right to an Abortion in order to push it down to the states. Mainly so that republican states could then create their own laws stopping abortion within their state borders. They've used state laws to enact hundreds of book bans for books that contain material they don't agree with...essentially creating morality laws that enforce their particular morality on everyone. So you can imagine my surprise (actually lack thereof) when republicans (led by p01135809) began attacking two states that removed p01135809 from their ballots, with p01135809 asking SCOTUS to intervene. States that the constitution says have full control over the manner of elections in their state. I'm confused. Do republicans believe in states rights or not? Or do they only believe in the level of government (county, city, state, federal) that provides them the morality rules that they desire? I'm guessing the latter. Just based on their current use of county, city, state, and federal government.
