Why I'm Voting For Biden Again [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-01-03 Bare with me for a second.. So I got in a “debate” with a kid last night. I assume he was a kid anyway. A gamer on a Discord server I help moderate. He was very, very upset that a gaming company who had said they were making a “surprise” announcement, made the announcement and it was not about the game he wanted. He went on for hours and hours ranting and raving to anyone who would listen about how horrible this was and how it was ruining his entire week. Yeah, over a video game announcement. I started thinking about life experiences, age, and how they affect your reactions to things. I have a hard time relating to people getting truly upset over a video game, or M&M’s or EV’s or Dr Suess, or LGBTQ’s or books or gas stoves. I don't have a hard time relating to Joe Biden. He and I have something in common. We have both lost a spouse and a child. (2 children in Bidens case). Let me tell you what that kind of loss does to a person. It haunts you. Every single day, you still see their faces, hear their voices and feel the incredible weight of the grief. Every solitary moment is an opportunity for your thoughts to wander, to think about what might have been. Every night before bed is a whirlwind of thoughts and every morning you awake with the knowledge that things are not what they should be and never will be again. What this kind of loss does, is give you perspective. It reminds you every single day what is actually important. I can only imagine what it must feel like to have a bunch of power hungry assholes go after your surviving son because they want to get to you. Yet Biden seems unflappable. Why? Because nothing Republicans do to him can make things any worse for him. He will be haunted for his entire life. At least whatever happens with Hunter, Biden knows he’s alive. So you can vote for Biden because of the Chips Act, the Infrastructure Act, or the Inflation Reduction Act. You can vote for him because of the jobs or the economy, or because he’s working with Xi to make sure we have peace with China. Or, just because Republicans are flaming assholes. Personally I’m voting for him because I know what he’s been through, I know what he’s thinking and I know what haunts him in the middle of the night. I know he’s got “perspective” on what is important in life and will make decisions as best he can with that in mind. It’s a perspective that thankfully, very few people have and because he has it, I trust him.
