Sick of Party Democrats Ignoring Rural Democrats [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-01-02 Hi all, I am a rural progressive, a registered Democrat and I have run for some political offices (and am serving at a local level. Recently, the Centre County Democratic Party decided to only send information relating to the swearing in of their candidates that won in municipalities that are in, what I consider, to be a small metropolitan area. This communication ignored the rural Dems who won seats at a local level, noticeably in purple and red areas. THESE WINS MATTER. They inspire Democrats in rural areas to fight harder and work more diligently to create change. I commented on the Centre County Democratic Committee's Facebook page the comment above on their post. Then they deleted my comment. Obviously, I took screenshots of my comment since these folks hate to get suggestions from someone not from their group. If you want to see my response to them deleting my comment that points out the potential harm ignoring rural areas does, click HERE. Long story short, the current Centre County Democrats continue to alienate younger people, Progressives and, of course, rural folks (unless they have money). There was no reason to delete a comment pointing out that they were potentially alienating rural Democrats. It was an opportunity to admit fault and be better. Instead, they doubled down. And this is why Democrats don't make better gains and get the big wins.
