Covid-19 Circles of Hell -- December Epilogue [1]

It’s been six months now since I more or less concluded this particular series looking at the cumulative effects of the global Covid-19 pandemic on US states, Canadian provinces, and world nations with a population of >250,000. This Top 100 table lists the top 100 States/Nations in terms of both total deaths and deaths per 1 million population from Covid over just the past six months.

While far too many states/nations are no longer bothering to update their Covid stats, this table should give some idea as to where the lingering embers of the pandemic are still concentrated. Note in particular that while the Navajo Nation (NN) continues to have the worst per capita record, just as it has had throughout the pandemic, Puerto Rico also had a surprisingly rough time as well, along with Finland, Sweden, parts of Canada, and Florida. Indeed, for the first time in this now nearly 4-year long pandemic, Canada has actually racked up more per capita deaths over the past six months than the US; and Florida has seen more deaths than any other state and all but three other nations — way to go Gov DeathSantis!
