I really don’t know what to say. I wrote a diary a few days ago in exhaustion and despair, completely overwhelmed by the situation with my friends in Ghana and, admittedly, the problems in my own life and in the life of my son. John, the foundation and the literal bedrock keeping so many alive, is in failing health and struggling in his own personal circumstances. Other problems have been coming up both in Ghana and here and we are simply out of gas.

I did not mean to ask for help. But you did respond. Unexpectedly and with enough to get us through.

I just wanted everyone to know that our four year old orphan Anabel is safe, at least for now. Thanks to you, I was able to send enough to keep her in the shelter and in school. That is the most important thing. She literally has no place else to go.

The boy above is named Rasford Bill. He is sixteen years old. He is a member of the dance group Small Killers, who dance on the street for tips. John has been sponsoring them to try to get them started in life. The photo to the right is the group.

I try not to show the worst photos of the people there with problems but I think this is the right time to do it. Last week sores opened on the boy’s legs and they are swelling. They smell foul and are spreading. John has been going out of his mind trying to get him some medical treatment.

Thanks to your help I managed to send John enough yesterday to get the boy taken care of. This is another life you have saved.

John has not yet bought medicine for himself. I will make sure that he does that this week.

I just wanted everyone to know that things are better and it is only because you stepped in, without being asked, and helped.

Over the time I have been writing these diaries this has happened again and again and I am deeply grateful. You are keeping people alive, not in the abstract but individual, real people.
