New Day Cafe: Things Recently Seen at the Met [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-11-06 Welcome to the New Day Cafe! This is an open thread. Here are some terrible photos of some wonderful things seen at the Met last week. The Manet/Degas exhibit was so hectic that I didn’t really try to take photographs. There was a virtual queue to regulate the crowd. You can see more about it here: www.metmuseum.org/… Here are a couple I took to show a friend how frequently Degas used shades of brown and gold with pops of green in his paintings of the period. An explainer: One of Degas’ paintings of the races. Fortunately I have the catalog for this show, because my crooked ass photos wouldn’t cut it. Here are a couple photos and explainers I took at the Early Buddhist Art in India show. You can read and see more here: www.metmuseum.org/… I’ve been reading through the catalog for this show since I got back. It’s so interesting! This is an open thread. Please share what’s on your mind this morning.
