A NICE WALK IN THE PARK (not) [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-09-10 What a day. This morning it was “bath time for Bruno”. With anti-frizz shampoo. Oh bark, the shame of it. So when we went WALKIES at sundown just before the big storm, everything was fine except that I got this odd feeling near the house of the three white doggies. I did a good dump right in line with the prevailing wind direction and headed off pretty pleased with myself. Timing dead on as usual! Then we got to the top of the park and I spotted this Doberman, off the lead, with a dumb-looking Boss trailing behind. The Doberman came over. It was one of those feral teenagers HE is always talking about. And I am a bit mature now, so at first I was nice, but then he made a snide remark about my gay anti-frizz peach and aloe shampoo job. That was IT! I did some nasty sounds and showed my teeth and he did the same and then he had a go, and I really hate it when HE doesn’t let me off the lead, but no matter. I backed off to get some slack and then when the enemy moved in, I lunged for his flank. He grazed my jaw with his canines but then I had him. I got a fold of flesh between my canines and bit down then shook my head, felt the ripping and tasted the blood. I am a sporting dog so I let go and let HIM pull me away, finally, and we were backing off but then the Doberman came in again with slobber and foam dripping off his jaws. I was all set to finish him because I could feel that HIS arm was failing in strength and soon HE would have to let go. And about 45 seconds later, that Doberman would be no more. But about then HE found himself next to a place where there were some big stones and began picking them up and throwing them. But missed because HE was using his left arm and the Doberman was faster. So then HE picked up a stone like a club and I knew immediately by the way he moved in that he would use it on the Doberman. And I was getting very tired. After all I am nearly seven. So I ‘reluctantly’ retired from the field. When we got back it was nice of HIM to rinse all the blood from my jaws.
