The Republican platform hasn’t been popular since Reagan was elected in 1982 and 1986. Never mind that it was a lie.

- “W” lost the popular vote in 2000 appealing only to his base.

- “W” won the popular vote in 2004 in the aftermath of 9/11.

- TFG lost the popular vote in 2016.

- TFG lost the popular and electoral college vote in 2020.

The GOP message is not popular. The bigoted, misogynistic, homophobic, and xenophobic slant is just not popular. Did I mention the economic plan favoring the 1% and the corrupt corporate interests? The attempted coup of 2020 indicates an awareness by the GOP that they can’t win a fair election and that they need to gerrymander their districts, suppress voter turnout, and corrupt the election results to hold office. They prefer a dictator who is “one of theirs” over a legitimately elected candidate. They don’t support democracy: they are not patriots. These fascists don’t grasp that a dictator is no longer the creature of the party that put him in power. He’s just a dictator.

The GOP could always borrow the strategy from 50 years ago to promote a program to appeal to a majority of voters.
