GOP House Rep. diagnoses Biden with "labile emotional swings" [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-07-12 Two days ago, Axios broke the story that President Biden has a temper . Here is how they reported it: The president's admonitions include: "God dammit, how the f**k don't you know this?!," "Don't f**king bullsh*t me!" and "Get the f**k out of here!" — according to current and former Biden aides who have witnessed and been on the receiving end of such outbursts. Stop the presses and start banging the impeachment drum. Who the hell does Joe think he is? he should know that real Presidents are always even-keeled in private. Has any other incumbent had a similar lack of control? Perhaps Trump? It seems so. Cassidy Hutchinson gave an example to the House January 6 Committee as she described how the 2020 loser threw his food around after hearing his AG, Bill Barr, saying there was no widespread voter fraud. “There was ketchup dripping down the wall and a shattered porcelain plate on the floor,” Hutchinson testified, noting that aides nearby conveyed the president was “extremely angry” at the Barr interview. She told the committee that she then grabbed a towel and started wiping the ketchup off the wall alongside a presidential valet. Trump makes Biden look like an amateur when it comes to anger management. And plenty of other Presidents have had trouble keeping an even keel, notably Washington, John Adams, Jackson, Eisenhower, LBJ, Nixon, and Clinton. But no one judges them by their rages. However, Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC) has decided that Biden’s temper is both inappropriate and a symptom of profound mental decline. Murphy is a urologist. He uses his medical expertise in kidney function to qualify himself as a gerontologist. In a bitch and moan session with Fox’s Maria Bartiromo, the two of them were dissecting this statement Biden offered in response to the question of his age. “Look, to use the phrase again, I think we’re at an inflection point. I think the world is changing and I think I — there is one thing that comes with age, if you’ve been honest about it your whole life, and that is some wisdom.” Bartiromo started the rush to the bottom with incredulity. “Inflection point?” she blurted out. “Why is this an inflection point?” Dr. Murphy was eager to bring Maria up to speed. “Well, because they want it to be — they literally want to transform the world. Let’s look at Joe; he’s had so much plastic surgery, so much Botox, so much filler — that’s on the outside.” Why is Murphy surprised that “they” want to transform the world? Has not pretty much every President and wannabe President — including Republicans — said the like in their campaigns? Also, Greg cannot possibly believe that Trump’s hair and skin color are natural — can he? Or that his teeth are original? Murphy was just getting warmed up. Despite flubbing his knowledge of Trump’s unnatural alterations, he offered a medical opinion of Biden’s mental capacities. “And, Maria, you know, I deal in a surgical field that has a lot of older patients, and so I have seen patients through the year decline mentally — it’s just a fact, it’s what happens — and the fact that these outbursts now are happening — remember, he was going to be the most gentle, and gentile [sic] president ever. I agree that Biden’s instinct is collaboration and bipartisanship. Yet, despite being frustrated by a GOP uninterested in doing anything for Americans, Biden has been singularly calm in the face of the Party of “No.” I would give Joe high marks for gentleness (and Biden has never claimed to be Jewish.) Next, Murphy analyses Biden’s private behavior. “The fact that he’s having these labile* emotional swings, outbursts to his staff, really speaks — a form of dementia has that. You can’t control your emotions, or if you can’t get the word out you want to, you become very frustrated. This is all a picture of this. I mean, come on, let’s just be honest: the guy’s not fit for office, he never was fit for office, and he surely would not be fit for another five years.” (*of or characterized by emotions that are easily aroused or freely expressed, and that tend to alter quickly and spontaneously.) Murphy’s grasp of syntax and grammar could equally well point to a form of dementia. However, let us ignore Murphy’s inability to organize his thoughts and consider the rest of his diagnosis. It is safe to say that anyone who cannot get the right word out can get miffed. How that is a sign of dementia when that frustration is most prevalent among young children is unclear. In addition, Biden is a well-known stutterer who has shown enormous mental stamina to overcome the handicap and log 50 years of public service. Lastly, we can dismiss Murphy’s claim that Biden is “not fit for office” by pointing to Biden’s remarkable legislative record. And his continued ability to get things done — like increasing the debt ceiling — when one-half of Congress is controlled by Republicans, who have yet to get anything done. Murphy is not new to the “Biden is Gaga” game. In August 2020, three months before Joe rang Don’s bell, he tweeted : “So sad that we have a Candidate who obviously is fighting the ravages of dementia as the Democratic nominee...” When asked why he tweeted the diagnosis then and three other times, Murphy claimed he was only repeating what the public thinks, saying, "The majority of American people believe he does have dementia". How many doctors base their diagnoses on public opinion? Hopefully, not many. Also, Murphy’s grasp of what the public thinks was proved unreliable when Biden beat Trump by 7 million votes later that year. Murphy also displayed his mental limitations after the Supreme Court overturned Roe. In explaining why there should be no exceptions to a complete abortion ban, he said — in a now-deleted tweet — “No one forces anyone to have sex.” And that, dear reader, reveals the intelligence of a man who criticizes the mental fitness of others.
