"The "M"word [1]

I don't comment or post here much. Mostly I enjoy Daily Kos for other people's well thought or at least entertaining posts. But I couldn't help but notice a big kerfuffle about the so called "M" word.

I've been calling supporters or the former guy Trumpists since almost the beginning of his unfortunate political ascension. Many refer to them as "MAGA" or the "MAGA movement". I sometimes have thought of them as the MAGA/Trumpists. The first time I saw the "M" word, that's what I thought it was the acronym for. But it turns out, when you sound that out phonetically, it rhymes with the word for fly larvae. Some folks don't like the idea of using such a word, as they see it as being dehumanizing. And while I'm not against using harsh words, even the "M" word, against the Trumpists when the occasion calls for it, DKos has its rules against it, fair enough. Besides, their are other arenas online for rhetorical combat with the Right. DKos is more of a home base at which to rest and resupply.

Perhaps it was intended originally as a slur against the Trumpists, or whatever you like to call them. But I say it's a viable acronym. Could we perhaps put periods in between each letter?
